Cap and Gown Session

Graduation is more than walking across a stage. It marks the end of one chapter and the exciting beginning of another. That is exactly what made Kayla's senior cap and gown session so special. As a senior photographer in Pocatello, Idaho, I love creating sessions that celebrate not only the milestone but also the story that brought each senior to this moment.

For Kayla's graduation session, we explored two of my favorite locations in the area: Old Town Pocatello and City Creek Trails. Together, they offered the perfect mix of classic downtown charm and beautiful Idaho scenery.

A Beautiful Summer Evening for Senior Photos in Pocatello, Idaho

Leading up to the session, the wind had us wondering what the evening would bring. Thankfully, it settled down just in time. As if on cue, the sun peeked through the clouds at all the right moments, giving us the most beautiful golden light throughout the evening.

One of my favorite things about photographing seniors is that every session tells a different story. The little details often become the most meaningful memories, and Kayla's session was full of them.

Telling Her Story Through Ballroom Dance

Kayla brought along her ballroom dance shoes, and I immediately knew they needed to be part of her senior portraits. Those shoes had been with her throughout her high school years. Every scuff, crease, and worn spot represented countless hours of practice, performances, and dedication.

I love incorporating meaningful items into senior sessions because they make the images feel personal. Years from now, those shoes will remind her of much more than dance. They will remind her of an entire season of life that helped shape who she became.

These are the moments that make senior photography so rewarding.

Golden Hour at City Creek Trails

As we made our way through City Creek Trails, the sun slowly dipped behind the mountains. The light became absolutely magical. We couldn't resist pulling over for a few extra portraits, and I'm so glad we did.

That soft Idaho sunset created some of my favorite images from the entire evening. Golden hour has a way of making everything feel calm, warm, and timeless. It perfectly reflected the excitement and anticipation that comes with graduating and looking toward the future.

It's evenings like this that remind me why I love being a senior photographer in Pocatello, Idaho. Our local landscapes create the perfect backdrop for celebrating life's biggest milestones.

Ending the Session in Old Town Pocatello

We wrapped up the evening at the park in Old Town Pocatello, where Kayla climbed onto the swings for a few final photos.

Those images ended up being some of the most emotional from the entire session. Watching her swing back and forth felt like a quiet goodbye to childhood. It was a simple moment, but it carried so much meaning. High school was coming to a close, and a brand-new adventure was waiting just around the corner.

Those are the kinds of photographs I hope my clients treasure for years to come. They capture not only how life looked but also how it felt.
